What’s in my Makeup Bag?

Okay, you’re gonna wanna grab a cup of tea for this one.. or if you’re like me, grab a glass of rosé, an over sized t-shirt and get comfy because this is gonna be long!

Besides having a full-time job in the marketing industry, I’m also a freelance makeup artist at the weekends and have been for the last 4 years. So naturally I get asked about makeup tips and what make-up I’m using all of the time. As a make-up girl through and through, putting my face on every morning is such a relaxing ritual for me.  Pure zen. I do my makeup the same way every day. It has taken me YEARS (and thousands of hours watching YouTube videos and walking the aisles of makeup shops), to find my look.

I’m going to post this in two separate blogs posts; this one will be on my everyday must have make-up products and the second will be on my must haves for going out and when I wanna be that lil bit extra.

Listed below you will find all of my current faves … please bare in mind, this could change next month if I have a wander around Boots or BT. Once I see someone rave about a new product then I have to have it.. it’s a serious problem. Makeup + Food = Broke.

Anyway, I’ll stop rambling and get to the good stuff 🙂

Face

Let’s start with the face shall we?

Primer: After moisturizer, I always prime my face.. an absolute fave of mine is the Flomar Double Radiance Primer. I literally have used this stuff for years and whenever I try something new, I always go back to this. I love love love dewy skin! This primer gives the perfect dewy base for foundation and doesn’t feel too heavy on the skin. It’s also gorgeous by itself if you’ve got a tan. You can pick it up in Penneys for like €10 🙂

Foundation: My everyday foundation is a little on the pricey side, I’ve tried to move away from it so many times but I literally can’t. I’m attached. The Nars Luminous Weightless Foundation in shade Stromboli is my all time holy grail foundation. It’s medium to full coverage but lightweight and of course dewy. I cannot cope with dry looking skin! You can find it here and it’s €45 (I’m sorry) haha. Buuuut a bottle will do you for a good 3-4 months and if it’s any consolation Michelle Keegan uses it too 🙂

If you’re from Cork, they don’t have it in the BT here but you can do a click and collect from the website 😉

Concealer: I don’t understand how anyone can do their makeup and not use concealer. Seriously? I plaster this under my eyes every single morning…and down the center of my nose, triangle shape in-between the eyebrows, up towards the forehead and center of the chin. Done. If you take anything from this post, let it be this tip..conceal. Conceal your face, conceal your spots, conceal that Dominos you ate last night.. just conceal. The one I’m currently using is one I feel everyone on the planet has heard off, the Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer. Fab. It’s moisturizing and doesn’t crease. You can get it here for €11.99.

Quick tip on this one, if you’re a hygiene freak like me take the sponge off and apply with your finger or beauty blender.

Powder: I can’t look past MAC Studio Fix Powder in NC30! It delivers the most flawless matte-velvet finish and lasts all day. What I love most about it is the fact it offers a bit of extra coverage. I don’t go anywhere without it! I have tried the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder but it doesn’t compare to my Studio Fix ❤ You can pick it up here for €32.

To set my under eye I love MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Light. This brightens the under eye and prevents any creasing without drying out the skin.. have we discussed that I hate that? Oh right haha! It also lasts forever! I bought mine last year and it still looks brand new 🙂 Available here for €31.50.

Blusher, Bronzer and Highlight: I can’t express the importance of this product in my life.. The Sleek Makeup Face Form Pallet in Medium. I use this for bronzer (the perfect dark shade with no orange tone), blusher (a gorgeous golden brown shade, I’m not about the bright pink life for day to day) and highlight (a champagne colour that doesn’t look powdery #winning). You can pick it up here for €13.99.

Eyes

Eyebrows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade.. someone find me something better than this product! You can’t! I have used this for yearsss and I’m not joking, one pot of this will last you your whole life. I use the shade medium brown. You can’t buy this in stores in Ireland but you can get it online here for £19.

Eyeliner: Look no further than Inglot AMC Gel Liner in shade 89. I prefer brown eyeliner during the day as it isn’t as harsh as black. I also think it looks more natural, especially when you’ve blonde hair! This liner is also waterproof, smudge proof and doesn’t transfer onto your eyeshadow! Can’t deal. You can get it here for €15.

Eyeshadow: I don’t use actual eyeshadow during the day, I just get a big fluffy brush (MAC 224) and dip it into my bronzer. I apply it into my crease and under my bottom lash line.

Mascara: Do not come near me with a waterproof mascara. I’ve tried them and I end up losing 100 eyelashes a day trying to get it off. No thanks. My fave mascaras are the ones that come with primers. A primer will thicken and lengthen your lash before you even apply mascara. The one I’m currently using is L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar Mascara and I’m lovin’ it! You can pick it up here for €15.99

Lips

Lips: My go to combo has now and forever shall be MAC Whirl Lipliner (can you deal?) and MAC Honeylove lipstick. Done. The Dream.20-1024x768.jpg

And there you have it..my face 🙂 haha

Until next time,
