Okaaay so it’s been a hot minute since I wrote a blog but let’s give this another try shall we? .. So a few weeks back I put up one of those question thingy’s on Instagram asking what topic all of you lovely ladies would like me to write about and skincare was the most requested.
If this is your first time reading my blog, hi, hello, welcome 🙋🏼♀️. I’ll warn you from the outset, this is not some fabulously well written blog, it’s literally how I would talk to you if you met me on the street.. so if sarcasm and humour offend you, I would suggest that you read no further. On the other hand, if you’re here for some info and some laughs, you’ve come to the right place! ☺️
Okay, we all know my deepest fear is wrinkles.. and dehydrated skin.. or even worse those dehydration wrinkles! You know, the ones you get on your forehead that make you look ten years older than what you actually are? No time for that! Now, I won’t lie, I have gotten lazy with my skincare routine but to be totally honest I think my laziness has actually done wonders for my skin! Yes girls yes, doing the bare minimum was beneficial, my kinda liiiiife! If only I could apply doing the bare minimum to everything else and have it benefit me, that would be the dream!
I know, I still haven’t learned to stop rambling 🙂 Let’s get started before I go totally off topic…
I am not a morning person. You need to give me some time to come around and adjust to the day. My alarm deafens me and makes my cry every morning at 6:00am, 6:15am and 6:30. It also wakes up Aaron who doesn’t have to get up until 9:30am (joys of being a man) and I get some sort of joy waking him up at that time when he doesn’t have to purely because I’m jealous he gets to stay in bed 😂. He loves me for it as you can probably guess 😉 . So anyway, I rock into the kitchen, stick on the coffee machine and put on whatever series I’m currently watching on the tv (just finished “You”, if anyone has any recommendations hit me uuup!) and then I pull out my skin care bag. Yes, I have a big ass bag of skincare.. and use all of three things in the morning 🙂
Step One.. is serum! Lads this hasn’t changed. I’m still obsessing over the Clarins Double Serum ♥️. It’s literally all you need in your life. I would pick this over food if I was down to my last €100. Ok, that’s a bit extreme, but not really. If you use it you’ll understand. It’s an age defying serum… yes it prevents wrinkles or reduces them and shrinks pores. Are we able? If you do have this or you’re thinking of splashing out the cool €72 for a 30ml bottle make sure you’re using it correctly; don’t rub it into your skin. Actually NEVER rub anything into your skin! Press it into your skin.. lymphatic drainage and all that ya know?
Step Two.. SPF! Yes also still obsessed with SPF. It’s the only thing that will 110% prevent your skin from ageing. Use all the serums in the world but if you’re not using SPF, even in the rain then you’re wasting your time. I’m still using the Clarins UV+ SPF 50. This tiny little bottle is €38 but I’m not even joking I bought a bottle in May before I went to Paris, I’ve used it every single day and I haven’t finished it yet. You only need the thinnest layer of it. My favourite thing about this one is that it protects against UV rays, pollution and free radicals. So basically, it stops all of the dirt from everyday life getting into your skin. To be honest, I don’t care what brand of SPF you use just please Jesus use a good one that’s higher than SPF 30.. I’d prefer if you used 50 but that’s your call.
Step Three.. Bobbi Brown Face Base. I loooove dewy skin. Like, dip my face in oil and send me on my way. This is the only moisturiser/primer (two in one to aid my laziness) I’ve worn in the last, I’m gonna say year. It just gives my skin the most beautiful healthy glow and keeps my face on all day. It also smells unreal! It’s €52.50 but like, get over it, it’s amazing 🙂
Then I slap on my face and go about my day.
Like, that’s literally only three steps! I love my little morning routine, it just sets up my day. That time alone in the morning is probably one of my favourite times of the day. Don’t under estimate giving yourself some time in the morning even if you have to get up ten minutes earlier ❤
I also should probably share two things that I think really helped my skin. The first, I try (emphasis on the word try) to drink five litres of water a day. I know ya, drowning! Secondly, in the apartment I moved into, the water was sooo hard! Full on turned my hair yellow and dried up my skin like I was living in the Sahara for ten years with no SPF. Are we alright?! So, I bought a €20 shower filter on Amazon and it changed my life! If you live in an area with hard water, just splash out the twenty quid for the shower filter. I installed it myself and all! So easy.
I was going to pop my night time routine in here as well but you’d be reading until tomorrow so I’m gonna split them into two and post the second half this week at some stage 🙂
Oh! Everything I mentioned above can be bought in Brown Thomas. Sorry for the expense but it’s your skin! You can spend all the money in the world on make up but if the canvas isn’t smooth there’s no make up in the world that can hide it!
